allo, allo, allo

I have almost finished the first pair of pants for my David, and asked my hubbie to model them. He was not too happy but obliged me - refusing to take off his work clothes.

Well, at least you get an idea. So when i am sure they fit David, i will make him 6 outfits so he has one for each day of the week. This is so kiff - but when you are poor - you need to make a plan. And I am poor, so plan it is.

Tonight's cookies was so uninspiring,

Lucinda's Molasses Drops

I decided to make something else as well - this is from the "Baked and Delicious" series and it is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

You need 6 ingredients:

Puff Pastry

Tinned Cherries

Ready-made Marzipan

Flaked almonds

1 egg

icing sugar

and then you do 6 steps:

roll out puff pastry and cut into squares

put 1 piece of marzipan in the middle of each square
then put 2/3 cherries in the middle of each square
then put some flaked almonds in the middle of each square

then use egg as glue and as glaze to fold them up into little shiny parcels

sprinkle icing sugar and more almonds over the top and bake until gorgeous

I still need to do some work tonight, so will have to go now - sleep tight and let me know if one of you ever make one of the recipes I put on the blog

I think it is the name that is causing my procrastination. SWEATPANTS are just a nasty descriptive word. I mean - how horrible to have pants in which to sweat in. Gross!!!!

So that is one reason why I have not finished my sewing challenge to do an olympic-inspired outfit. Just the idea of sweating in my pants are putting me off.

The second reason I did not finish this challenge is because the Olympic games inspired me so much - lying on the couch watching other people perform - it was brilliant.

But a challenge remains a challenge and I must make these horrible purple pants to sweat in. I might also be a bit fearful that if I make them I will have to use them. Like do something to make me sweat in them.  But my promise to myself is to finish them this week and work up a bit of a sweat on Sunday for the photoshoot.

Talking  about sewing, I have made a great start on my fat-clothes quilt, look how nice it is going to be.

I cannot wait to finish it and start cutting up the other fat clothes. By the way, I have lost 13 kg in 2 months, so have finally decided that carbs are from the devil!! Protein is my future - a very thin future I must add. And maybe a sweaty future as well - if I can finish those pants.

I also need to sew some outfits for my son David, he has no clothes left and if you have a good look at him performing with his band "Beloved" - his clothes are all torn and buggered up. Oh sorry - he is suppose to look like this on stage.

The problem is at work. So I am going to make him these matching outfits which he is going to hate but me and his boss will force him to wear. I think he is going to look real cute in them.He wanted everything black and white, but I got carried away with some colour and that is just the way it is. For now. I will make black sets later.

Cookies, cookies, cookies - too many to mention. let me give you a few recipe's tonight - ones that were really good!!!

Elephant Ear Cookies

Chocolate-oatmeal-raisin cookies

and the best for last - MAKE THIS IT IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

Peanutbutter-swirl Brownies

There is no photo of this one, as we ate it before I could even push the on-button on the camera

With my knitting it is also going well - busy making a baby outfit for a new expecting mom - and finished the hat this weekend (it does look like a pumpkin at this stage, but sure when it is pulled over the little one's head it will look more like a hat than a pumpkin)

I have a bloody good excuse. I know I have not been blogging, and I have not been doing challenges, but I did something much more important. (and it snowed - look how beautiful our yard looks)

I found out more about the secret life of socks. The socks in my house anyway. It is one of life's biggest mysteries - where does the other sock go?

- you put 2 sock on in the morning (that is if you have 2 feet)
- then you take 2 socks off in the evening
- then you put 2 socks in the washing machine
- then you put 2 socks in the tumble dryer
- then you only end up with one sock

In my house we have a little corner for all the sad, lonely, single socks. All hanging on in hope that one day their mate will turn up again and a happy reunion will take place.

Well, my first clue appeared as i was making the bed with fresh sheets on Saturday morning. Right there in the one winter pillow case was a little sock all snugly curled up - hibernating over the long, cold winter.

I then found more evidence of socks all over, inside and under other pieces of cloth. I actually snapped this one trying to camouflage itself as part of a jersey.

So in my house, the socks use static electricity to avoid being found and reunited with their partners. It is actually a bit sad, as they are obviously desperate to escape the relationship. But alas, when I find them I bundle them all up together with the estranged mate in a tight, inescapable bundle, and there they have to wait for another opportunity to take a change at freedom.

Oh, and I slept a lot, cleaned the house, dusted, swept, decluttered, tidied and baked. I would love to share 2 recipes with you tonight.

A lovely Chocolate-Chip Meringue recipe. (as you can see the tin is just about empty - these were very popular)

And the  "No bake chocolate and peanut butter oatmeal bars". Very artsy (like Pollock)

My challenge from Pretty Powerful this week was to do something for my inner child. Look below:

This Week's Challenge

I dare you to do something for your inner child this week.
How to do it:
We all eventually grow up and out grow certain things but we all know that no matter what, our inner-child remains inside of us. We miss those days of being young.
Go to your local park, go bowling/go carting, go for ice-cream, go to a games arcade - anything that will make your inner child rejoice!
Remember to take a friend with you, you are more likely to enjoy the time when you have your best friend doing it with you!

They even gave some suggestions - but I guess they never would have put there to play in the snow!!!!! Here are some pics of us at work, having fun in the snow

And here is a pic of me not having fun in the snow

The wicked witch

And here is a pic of my husband and the dogs still deciding if it is fun in the snow

I will get going again on my challenges this week - hope to talk to you soon

Another gold for South Africa, and another gold for me!!!!!

my third gold medal
The rowing team inspired me so much, I decided to tackle the Flylady Olympic Declutter Games as soon as I walk into the house tonight. And I beat all other competitors to take the gold. Here is a picture of some of the other teams who participated (or shall we say did not participate) They got no medals.

Declutter athlete in despair

Please see the before and after photo's. The challenge was to do 5 drawers, and I totally got carried away (adrenaline is a dangerous thing!!)

Before - Bra mess

After - Bra order

Guess how many bras I have? Just guess!!! I have only 2 boobs, but I have 18 bras. There are bras for massive boobs, bras for small boobs, bras for perky boobs, bras for hanging boobs (this is where I am at this stage of my life). I could only get it over my heart to throw 2 bras out. One is tattered and basically have so many holes in it qualifies as a sieve (that is my weekend, comfy bra) - and then another bra which is the biggest bra I have ever seen. How it got into my undie drawer I have no clue!!!

I threw out all my old, ugly pyjamas, and now I only have pretty, slinky, silky ones left.

Before

After

The sock drawer was very boring to do, so the best job I could do was to colour code them.

I also did a winter drawer, with all my gloves and berets - none of which I ever wear. The gloves make me feel like I cannot do anything - they act like a type of a straight-jacket, and the berets make me look silly and make my forehead itch. But I still need to have this drawer for just in case - just, just in case.

And then an odd drawer, having all kinds of shit in it. I am not big on beauty regimes, so this is my little neglect drawer. Neglected skin, elbows, neglected feet, heels, neglected, forgotten, ancient little tubes and bottles filled with promises of everlasting and breathtaking beauty. (yeah sure!)

So now I have 5 decluttered, neat drawers and we will see how long it lasts. The next olympic games is only in 4 years, so it will have to stay neat until then!!

De-Clutter Games Day 7 - 8/2/12
flyladykelly, 8/2/2012 1:33 am
Dear Friends,

We are racking up those medals!! We are so proud of every single one of you for jumping in where you are and participating in our De-Clutter Games!

Today's challenge is a Dresser Drawer Dive!

We are going to open ONE drawer of our dressers and set a timer for 5 minutes. Have your put away, give away and throw away baskets open and ready. Open a drawer and as quickly as you can get rid of anything that you do not love, use, wear or need. Utilize the give away or throw away baskets to move through the drawer as fast as you can. If there are things that need to be put away someplace else place in the put away basket. When the timer goes off STOP! Now if you have children go do the same thing in one drawer in their rooms. If no children then throw open another drawer in your dresser for round 2.

Your challenge for today is 5 drawers. You can do it! Go get your medal!

And I think this tonight's cookie recipe also deserves a gold medal - it looks amazing and I think tomorrow at work a lot of people are going to be very happy to be part of the tasting panel. It is called Key Lime Bars, but limes are more scarce than working robots in Johannesburg, so it became a Key Lemon Thingy.

My one photographic challenge from http://www.photofriday.com/ was 'luminous' - and when I saw the moon tonight I had to take a picture.

And having a moon picture - a full moon - a full blood moon - I had to take a photo of something scary. Something that would keep you awake tonight and make your blood turn cold. And since I am so fascinated by the BIG BRA - I did my best impression of Jack Nicholson in The Shining - if he had to wear a bra on his head, this is basically what he would have looked like. BOO!!!!
